Join us Tuesday to welcome Hot Club Reading to Sumneytown for the first time!

Tunes on Tuesday at Sumneytown Hotel
Tuesday, October 27, 2026
5:30pm-7pm

There are Hot Clubs in Norway, Tokyo, San Francisco, New York, and probably every major city where the guitar is played. It is through the playing of the brilliant Gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt that most people are introduced to jazz manouche, as they call the style in its birthplace, France. The Hot Club of Reading Duo seamlessly blends jazz manouche with New Orleans Hot Jazz, Josh and Josiah Taylor. Josh Taylor is a Reading-based jazz guitarist that has been performing in the area since the 1990s. Growing up with music in the household, Josh learned blues and folk guitar from his father before falling in love with jazz guitar, namely in the style of Django Reinhardt. His passion for education has helped shape countless young musicians from the area, including his son. Starting the guitar at age 11, Josiah learned the style of Gypsy Jazz from his father. By 13, he was performing regularly with The Hot Club of Reading, playing all over eastern Pennsylvania. In 2020, Josiah attended Princeton University where he studied Astrophysics while continuing to hone his craft. Now that he’s out of school, he pursues music full time with his father and fellow bandmates, bringing hot jazz to audiences across eastern PA.
