We cannot thank you enough for letting us bring Burmese food into your lives. Due to the unexpected outpouring of love and support, we have LITERALLY sold out of everything and our last day of business will be 12/28 instead of the anticipated date of 12/29. Over the past several weeks, you have taken the time to share with us your favorite dishes and about how our lives have intersected over the past 28 years. Every single story has been so special to us, and we thank you for being part of our story. We will all hold these memories in our hearts forever.

To All Our Valued Guests and Friends

It is with great sadness that we announce our last day will be on December 29th, 2021. We want to thank all of our wonderful guests and employees for supporting us over these past 29 years. We are extremely humbled that so many embraced our restaurant and that we were able to succeed as long as we had. We have tried for many months to continue the operations of Rangoon Restaurant, but it has been most difficult for us. We are currently operating our Restaurant with only afew staff. It has been difficult for us to obtain and retain employees due to continuing difficulties with the Covid virus. Even though we truly would love to keep our Rangoon Restaurant open, we just are not able to keep up with the current demands of operating our short-staffed Restaurant. Due to our older age, we no longer can keep up with the physical and mobility demands of operating our restaurant.

For a while, we sincerely thought the new owner would be able to continue to keep Burmese Restaurant open. However, due to timing and other issues, this will not be the case.

As the owners of Rangoon Restaurant, please know that we truly did all we could to continue the operations of our
Restaurant, and to keep providing services to the public and especially to our most faithful and loyal customers.

But we were unable to accomplish this for our customers, and we are truly sorry. We are so very grateful and thankful for all of the support from our customers over the past 29 years. Thank you so very much. We will miss all of you.

SINCERE GRATITUDE FROM OWNERS OF RANGOON RESTAURANT, PHILADELPHIA, TO AN UNIDENTIFIED LONG-TIME WOMAN CUSTOMER AND HER FAMILY

With this statement, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to a woman who was a longtime customer (along with her family) of our Rangoon Restaurant, on Ninth Street in Chinatown, Philadelphia. However, we do not know who this individual is nor her name, so that we could properly contact, acknowledge and thank her. But what we do have is a statement by this woman, which recently appeared on "Billy Penn," a daily digital news blast, which greatly compliments our Rangoon Restaurant (very sincere thanks to the unidentified customer who dropped off this statement at our restaurant, this past Sunday (November 7) afternoon).

After the three of us (Christine, Mee Mee and Jenny) read the statement from this woman, we were all completely overwhelmed with great gratitude by the wonderful story told by this woman about the many years she had come to our Rangoon Restaurant for meals with her family. She described with such sincere love all of the dishes they enjoyed at our restaurant over the years, and how she brought her daughter (and her husband), and her son (and his family from Helsinki) to our restaurant over the years, and then her grandchildren as well. We were very happy and felt great joy that our restaurant became a true family tradition for this woman and all of her family.

But we were also very heartbroken to read this woman would not be back in Philadelphia (city of her birth) until May 2022, and so she will not be able to come to our restaurant to say goodbye by the end of this year, when Rangoon Restaurant will close. But if this woman should see this posting, we just wanted to say to her how deeply touching and beautiful we found her story about our restaurant, how wonderful her memories were of great meals and family time at our restaurant, and how she remembered all of us over the years with her kind and loving words. Many blessings upon you, your children and your grandchildren. Thank you so much.
