What people say
The Tiberino Museum on Hamilton Street in Philadelphia is a hidden gem that celebrates the life and career of the renowned Philadelphia Artist, Ellen Powell Tiberino. Established in 1999, this museum is not just a place to view art but an immersive experience into the world of the Tiberino family.
As you step into the complex, you are greeted with a courtyard adorned with sculptures and murals that set the tone for what lies ahead. The museum is a feast for the eyes, with three-dimensional murals, sculptures, and large-scale paintings showcasing elongated limbs, exaggerated glances, and thought-provoking sociopolitical and religious references.
What sets the Tiberino Museum apart is that it is not just a traditional gallery space but also serves as the family's home. Art pops up in every corner - from nooks and hallways to gazebos and kitchens. The constant display of Tiberino-ism creates an atmosphere of creativity and discovery.
Outside, the sculpture garden boasts nine lush city plots that add to the charm of this artistic haven. The patriarch Joseph Tiberino's words ring true as he describes the museum as a space for constant discovery where genuine masterpieces and hidden gems coexist.
For art enthusiasts looking for a unique and immersive experience in Philadelphia, the Tiberino Museum on Hamilton Street is a must-visit destination. Immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of artistry that defines this living memorial to Ellen Powell Tiberino and her family's legacy.
