Jezabel’s is launching our first-ever Kickstarter, and it means a lot to us.

For 16 years, we’ve grown slowly and independently. No investors, no shortcuts, just craft, community, and care.

Now we’re building something bigger! A return to the neighborhood we call home on 24th Street with a restaurant and bakery.

We have less than 30 days to raise $25,000. If we don’t hit our goal, we lose it all.

If you believe in neighborhood places built on community, we’d really appreciate your support or even just sharing this post!

Tap the link in bio to pledge and see the rewards.
We can’t wait to host you this summer 🇦🇷💛

We’re entering a new chapter—returning to the neighborhood where it all began.

As we grow, we’re looking for kind, generous, and hardworking humans to join our team.

We’re hiring across front of house, back of house, and our farmers market.

Positions are 20–30 hours per week.
Weekend availability (Saturday or Sunday) is a must.

If you love food, hospitality, and being part of something thoughtful and evolving, we’d love to meet you.

Apply at the link in bio on and include a note about yourself + your experience.

Best,
Jezabel

With this big smile, captured by I want to reintroduce myself to those who have recently joined our journey.

I’m Jezabel Careaga—entrepreneur, cook, owner, educator, creative, and, as from the Inquirer wrote, the Empanada Queen of Philadelphia. I’m the mind behind .phl, .phl, and the empanada maker for in New York City.

I was born and raised in my beloved Northwest Argentina—running through my grandmother’s patios, cooking, studying English, and traveling with my family. That’s where my love for food and travel began. I’ve been living in the U.S. since April 2007, so I’m deeply Argentine, but also shaped by American living—and my love for the Basque Country. 🇦🇷

When I’m in Philadelphia, you’ll find me in the kitchen with my team, at farmers markets, teaching classes, commuting to New York—or simply spending time with the people I love.

And when I’m not here, I’m most likely in Patagonia, with my parents and siblings, visiting friends overseas, or exploring a new country.

I pack light, travel far, and can probably carry 500 empanadas with me for a pop-up anywhere in the U.S.

If I say I’m showing up, I will. I take my work seriously, with a big dose of positivity—and I’m lucky to be surrounded by some of the best humans along the way.

I’m getting ready for one of the biggest steps in the history of Jezabel’s—returning to the neighborhood where it all began in 2010. And I keep reminding myself: dreams do come true.

Thank you for being here. 💛🇦🇷

To say I’ve been waiting for this moment for a long time is an understatement — my heart is exploding with joy. ✨

Sometimes the moral of the story is no matter the obstable “bajar los brazos” (to quit) was never part of the equation.

It’s my honor to invite you to our first Community Bake Sale.

This is what our cooking classes are like. ✨

A little like having friends over at home — we want everyone to feel at ease, to ask questions, to laugh, and to truly enjoy the moment.

Sometimes the table is filled with a private group of friends or colleagues, gathering to fold empanadas and share a meal. Other times, guests arrive as strangers and leave having made new friends around our communal table.

For me, , it is always deeply meaningful to share something so personal — something I grew up with — from the heart of Jezabel’s kitchen in Philadelphia (or wherever we may be invited to gather).

If you’re interested in hosting a private class or event at our communal table, send us an email, or join one of our upcoming classes on Resy.

You can also be the first to receive our schedule by subscribing to our newsletter. 💛

An elegant way to welcome the New Year. ✨

This New Year’s Eve, bring the table home — set with Argentine-inspired tapas, thoughtful ingredients, and dishes designed to be shared. A celebration that feels intentional, indulgent, and beautifully uncomplicated.

Our New Year’s Eve takeaway menu is an elevated expression of our greatest hits, curated for a lingering evening and a graceful start to the year ahead:

• Gilda en Matrimonio — guindilla pepper, olives, anchovies, boquerones
• Tortilla de Papas — tangy labneh, tomato confit
• Vitel Toné — vitello tonnato, the Argentine way
• Good Luck Hazelnut Cookies — a sweet note of abundance

Enjoy as a light tapas-style feast at home, or add empanadas and Passion fruit pie to complete the spread.
