Brittingham's in Lafayette Hill is not just a restaurant, it's a piece of history. Established in 1743, this building has been serving ale and warm welcomes to travelers and neighbors for over 270 years. It has played a significant role in American history, with many tankards raised to the Continental cause during the Revolution. Rumored to have been visited by Washington and Lafayette, this pub has stories to tell.
The Inn was known as "The Farmers and Drovers Hotel" during the 1800s, offering extensive sheds to weather livestock as it was herded down the Ridge and Germantown roads. It also became a stop on the Underground Railroad, with a tunnel stretching to the General Lafayette Hotel and then on to St. Peter’s cemetery.
Today, Brittingham's offers delicious food and drinks with an Irish theme established by popular local owners Frank and Nancy Brittingham in the 1970s. The menu features classic pub fare like fish and chips, shepherd's pie, and bangers and mash. The atmosphere is cozy with exposed brick walls, wooden beams, and a fireplace adding to its charm.
