Happy Monday! As we gear up to get the truck back out on the road, after taking a heavy hit to a packed schedule prior to the stay-at-home orders, we wanted to reintroduce our owner, and the story behind The Happy Pita 🥙😁

While attending University of Rhode Island for a Business Administration degree, owner Steve Bernstein found his love for falafel, Mediterranean cuisine, and the importance of health conscious eating. Growing up in the Philly suburbs, health-minded food options were not readily available. Combining his love of business and food, Steve decided to put a dream into action by bringing his local and surrounding communities The Happy Pita food truck.

From humble beginnings setting up at local parks and farmer’s markets, now approaching it’s sixth year in operation, The Happy Pita serves many of the area’s largest businesses, community events, and private catering needs from the city of Philadelphia to the suburbs of Chester, Bucks, and Montgomery counties.

Along the journey, we had a successful run with opening our first Happy Pita brick and mortar location in Malvern, PA. After 18 months in the restaurant, we learned that the overwhelming demand for mobile food service was where our focus needed to shift in order to contribute to wider accessibility of healthy food options. We closed the restaurant and invested in a little sister for The Happy Pita family, adopting a food cart in addition to the food truck. Every ending is a door to a new beginning. The Happy Pita cart was born April 2019.

With two food service vehicles ready to roll, we are loving life on the road!

We hope everyone is staying safe, healthy, and happy. We are preparing the truck and team to serve some of our local neighborhoods this week. We look forward to getting back to serving you pitas and smiles as the state allows for reopening. Thank you for your support thus far and we can’t wait to see you back out there! ❤️🥙

What people say

The Happy Pita is a mobile food service that brings the delicious flavors of Mediterranean cuisine to the streets of Philadelphia. With a focus on using fresh and local ingredients, they serve up mouthwatering dishes in warm pitas with a friendly smile.

Established in 2014 by owner Steve Bernstein, The Happy Pita was born out of his love for falafel, Mediterranean cuisine, and a desire to provide health-conscious food options to his community. Growing up in the Philly suburbs, Steve realized that there was a lack of healthy food choices available. Combining his passion for business and food, he decided to make his dream a reality by launching The Happy Pita food truck.

Starting from humble beginnings at local parks and farmer's markets, The Happy Pita has now been operating for almost six years. They have become a staple at many of the area's largest businesses, community events, and private catering needs. From the city of Philadelphia to the suburbs of Chester, Bucks, and Montgomery counties, The Happy Pita has gained a loyal following.

Although they briefly experimented with opening their first brick-and-mortar location in Malvern, PA, The Happy Pita quickly realized that their true calling was in mobile food service. Recognizing the overwhelming demand for their delicious offerings on wheels, they made the decision to close the restaurant and invest in a food cart instead.

The Happy Pita's commitment to providing wider accessibility to healthy food options is truly commendable. By taking their mobile operation on the road, they are able to reach more people and spread their love for Mediterranean cuisine throughout Philadelphia and its surrounding areas.

If you're craving flavorful Mediterranean fare served with a smile, look no further than The Happy Pita. Whether you catch them at one of their regular stops or book them for your next event or catering needs, you can expect nothing but deliciousness from this beloved food truck.
