Investigation Into Human Remains Found Near Wissahickon Creek and Germantown Avenue

On Monday evening, 14th District Officers responded to the woods near the intersection of Wissahickon Creek and Germantown Avenue at approximately 6:41 p.m., where they located the skeletal remains of an adult.

Due to the condition of the remains, the individual's race and gender have not yet been determined.

Investigators from the Medical Examiner’s Office will begin the recovery process and work toward a formal identification.

🐴The popular attraction in Gettysburg, known for its miniature horses, has closed as the owners retire. An auction is scheduled for February 28 to find new homes for 30 miniature horses and other farm animals. The auction has attracted national interest, with several bids already placed.

Right now, our Philadelphia headquarters is overflowing with amazing, adoptable cats of all ages and personalities.

Just this past Tuesday alone, we took in 31 cats, so we urgently need adopters to help make space and give them all the loving homes they deserve.

To reach the location on W Northwestern Avenue in Philadelphia, you have a few options for public transport and driving/parking:

Public Transport:
1. Take the SEPTA Regional Rail to the Chestnut Hill West Station.
- From there, walk south on Germantown Avenue until you reach W Northwestern Avenue.

2. Alternatively, take the SEPTA Bus Route 23 or 53 to the intersection of Germantown Avenue and W Northwestern Avenue.
- Disembark at this stop and continue walking west on W Northwestern Avenue.

Driving/Parking:
1. If you are driving from downtown Philadelphia, head northwest on I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway).
- Take exit 340B for Lincoln Drive toward Kelly Drive/Wissahickon Park.
- Continue onto Lincoln Drive and then turn left onto Rittenhouse Street.
- Finally, turn right onto W Northwestern Avenue.
