By now, you may have read it in the paper, seen us on the news, heard us talked about on Preston & Steve, or simply walked past our doors on Main Street and heard the news.
Sadly, after nearly four decades in Manayunk, Jake’s & Cooper’s will be closing our doors on October 19th — exactly 39 years after we first opened them.
The response since sharing the news has been overwhelming. The calls, messages, stories, old photographs, familiar faces coming through the door, and memories you’ve shared with us have reminded us just how incredibly lucky we have been.
For 39 years, you didn’t just come here for dinner or a glass of wine. You celebrated birthdays, first dates, anniversaries, engagements, reunions, graduations and ordinary Tuesday nights with us. You became regulars, friends and, ultimately, part of the Jake’s & Cooper’s family.
Thank you, Manayunk. Thank you, Philadelphia. And thank you to every guest who has ever walked through our doors. The love and sense of community you have given us is something we will carry long after the last glass is poured.
But we’re not done yet.
We still have some time together, and we want to spend it celebrating the way Jake’s & Cooper’s deserves to be celebrated. Come have dinner. Sit at the bar. Order an old favorite. Raise a glass. Bring back someone you haven’t been here with in years. Tell us your stories. Help us make a few more memories before we say goodbye.
And keep a close eye on all of our social media pages in the coming weeks. We’ll be sharing updates about Wine Shop deals, special offers, memories from the past 39 years, and details about one final Last Hoorah Bash before we turn out the lights.
We opened our doors in 1987 because we wanted to create a special place in Manayunk.
You are all the reason it became one. ❤️
With love and gratitude,
The Cooper’s Family
