OK, we have quit on using the Eagles opponent's city as the inspiration for our specials for a little while. Not only did we quit, we have gone in a totally opposite direction this week.
We shall start by bringing back the fried rice and eggs. This time it's a pork fried rice, using pork tenderloin, and will include 3 eggs how you like them. It will then be topped with a sriracha and hoisin sauce and diced scallions. The bonus on this one is it includes a pork roll and Cooper egg roll that was painstakingly rolled up today with some sriracha ketchup for dipping.
The sandwich is a long story too. Asian chicken salad, braised and pulled, with a sweet and hot dressing. Served on a brioche bun with slaw made from napa cabbage, bean sprouts, cilantro, ginger and garlic with another fresh dressing. An absolute flavor bomb.
Staying with the theme, we've got a pork dumpling soup. Light chicken broth, roasted pork, bok choy, shiitake mushrooms, carrots and of course pork dumplings. Garnished with bean sprouts.
The muffin will be peanut butter and jelly. Makes perfect sense, right?

Fortunately for us our specials are having more success than the Eagles. We are undaunted a d will continue our trend this week with one British special and 3 coastal specials.
1. English Breakfast. This version is a big plate of 3 eggs (your style), bacon , sausage, breakfast beans, grilled tomatoes, mushrooms and our semi famous home fries. We'll throw on some toast so you sop up every bit of flavor.
2. Conch fritter Po Boy. New one for us, as we've not really worked with it before. They came out fantastic and light. We'll put three on a hoagie roll with shredded lettuce, tomatoes and a Chipotle lime mayo.
3. Key Lime Chowder. Light red broth with some kick, lime juice, more conch, cod, mussels, clams and potatoes.
4. Key Lime Muffin. Just lije it sounds with a shot of whipped cream and a wedge of lime for those of you who want more acid.

Well, the Phillies game getting moved allowed me a longer nap than usual. With any luck, I may make it to the 6th inning. I'll do this fast and, as usual, we've got some good stuff for you! The two main specials are a nod to LA street food. Based on how last week went I should probably stop doing that but I'm a glutton for punishment.
1. Breakfast Burrito. Whole wheat tortilla, 3 scrambled eggs, seasoned black beans, home fries, cheddar and pepperjack inside. Tomatillo salsa, red salsa and lime crema on top. Choice of home fries, tomatoes or fresh fruit.
2. Bulgogi Steak. Thinly sliced sirloin flashed on the grill with a marinade of soy, rice w**e vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger and Asian pear. Served on a seeded roll with gojuchang mayo (fermented red pepper paste).
3. Butternut squash soup.
4. Pumpkin muffin.

You blink and we're already in to the fall season. The Eagles are in Chicago so you know there will be some nods to the specials included. I'm trying to knock this ouy early today. Here we go:
Meat Lovers Pizza Omelet. A nod to the great deep dish pizzas you can find in Chicago. This omelet will be served open faced with sausage, bacon, pepperoni, mozzarella cheese and house made red sauce. Your choice of home fries, tomato slices or fruit.
Loaded Hot Dog (s). Perhaps the secondmost iconic food in Chicago is the hot dog. We'll put a local spin on it. You can order single or doubles on this one, a grilled quarter pound all beef hot dog. It will go on a Martin's Potato bun with bacon, caramelized onions, cheddar cheese sauce and a roasted long hot.
Kielbasa & Cabbage Soup. Chicago also has a large Polish community so we made a kielbasa soup. Loaded with vegetables, braised cabbage and of course kielbasa. Available by the cup or bowl.
Apple C***r Muffin. This one should be good as we're using c***r, applesauce and shredded apple in the batter. As always, we never know until about 6:30 if we've been successful or not.

Going to take the specials in a dual direction this week. The Eagles are in Nashville so there's some good opportunity there. Plus this Monday is Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the year in the Jewish religion.
Let's start there. Matzo ball soup is at the top of the speicals list this week. Fresh chicken broth loaded with celery, carrots and lots of dill. Matzo balls light and fluffy as if your bubby had made them. Sold only by the bowl this week.
The rest of the specials we're going south. I know a lot of you miss the corn muffins, so this week we'll bring them back. As is our way, we will kick it up with some fresh corn as well as some other ingredients you might not expect.
Our newest breakfast will make the grits lovers very happy. We'll put a mound of cheesy grits on the plate and ladle over some redeye gravy (an old diner staple made of ham or bacon drippings, leftover coffee and soda). This dish will include 2 pieces of grilled ham as well as two eggs how you like them.
Finally, and perhaps expectedly, we will be making an authentic Nashville hot chicken sandwich. It's a buttermilk brined boneless thigh dredged in saeasoned four and fried to golden brown. We'll then hit with our sweet and hot sauce and serve it simply on a toasted brioche bun with sliced pickles.

Football season has returned and we're ready for it. We've got a lineup of big specials that we are sure you will enjoy.
1. Pancake & Bacon muffin. Just like it sounds. Once again, we won't know until tomorrow if it's successful but I have high hopes.
2. Bacon Cheeseburger Soup. A tailgate classic, this time we've added bacon to our cheeseburger soup. Garnished with lettuce and tomato.
3. Mega Meat Lovers Omelet. Steak, andouille sausage, potatoes, onions and mushrooms in our three egg omelet. It will be filled with a blend of smoker provolone and sharp cheddar cheese and finished with a marsala demi gravy.
4. Cuban Burger. Our Angus beef patty cooked to your desired degree of doneness. Served on a toasted brioche bun with ham, Swiss cheese, pickles and honey mustard dressing.

Another summer flies by in the blink of an eye. Kids go back to school. Everyone gets back to normal, whatever that is. Very interesting time of year. Another reminder we are closed Monday for Labor Day. Let's tell you about the specials real quick.
1. S'Mores French Toast. Available in a short stack or triple stack, Texas dipped in our French toast batter and grilled to gbd (golden brown delicious). Topped with crumbled graham crackers, Hersheys chocolate chips and a warm marshmallow fluff glaze.
2. BLATCH Croissant. Bacon, Lettuce, Avocado, Tomato and housemade CHicken salad on a buttery, flaky croissant. As always, you can add any add of our side dishes for a slight upcharge.
3. Beef Barley & Mushroom soup.
4. Strawberry Shortcake.
Much like many restaurants, we have experienced an outflux of experienced team members. To that end, you will see some new faces in the coming weeks. Thank you in advance for being welcoming to them as you have to all the employees who have come through that door.

Quick note before I do the specials, and summer ends, we will be closed on Monday the 7th. For those of you dealing with the back to school stuff, you have my condolences. Plus side though, your house is about to be much quieter during the day. I digress. Next weeks specials and we think you're really going to enjoy them.
1. French Onion Soup. House made croutons, topped with Swiss and mozzarella cheeses.
2. Applesauce and oatmeal muffin. No need to say it twice.
3. Andouille chicken sausage omelet. Star of this one is, you guessed it, a nice smoky andouille sausage made from chicken. It will be sauteed with onions, peppers and tomatoes, then finished with extra sharp white cheddar, Crystal hot and chives.
4. Hot Italian Beef. This one is so much more than that. Grilled rosemary/parmesan Italian bread topped with Swiss cheese, creamy giardiniera, stewed green pepper and beef cooked to order. Test kitchen reviews on this one were very high.

Let's do a quick rundown of next week's specials before we all have to get into our arks!
1. Chicken Noodle was a big hit so we're letting it run another week.
2. Espresso and chocolate chip muffin.
3. Tex Mex Benny. Thomas' English muffin topped with avocado, chorizo, poached eggs and jalapeno hollandaise. This is a new creation for us and is loaded with flavor.
4. Bagel turkey melt. Your choice of plain, everything or sesame bagel. Grilled turkey, applewood smoked bacon, Swiss cheese and house made sundried tomato mayo. Really nice mixture of salty, sweet and savory on this one.

Every once in a while we do a week of specials that we've done before because you all liked them so much. You can call them fan favorites or classics or whatever you want. They always sell well and we get lots of comments like "That should be on the menu all the time". This is that week. Starting tomorrow at 7 we have for you the following:
1. Roasted Broccoli and Cheddar Omelet. Just like it sounds with some scallions added in to the pan for a little extra flavor.
2. Bacon Jam Burger. Our hand formed Angus patty cooked to your desired degree of doneness. Served on a toasted brioche bun with Cooper sharp cheese and our bacon that everyone enjoys so much.
3. Homestyle Chicken Noodle. Also just like it sounds. Smelled like my grandmother's kitchen as we prepared it today.
4. Blueberry & Lemon Muffin.
For you sports, in case you weren't aware, the Phillies are playing the Field of Dreams game in Iowa tonight. Should be a lot of fun.

This is going to be a long one today but it's a great read. Some of you already know that Alex has moved on (his last day was yesterday) but I'm guessing most of you don't. His time with us has been very special to me and the entire staff. In addition to being an excellent cook, he is a fine young man and a great father. As I told him yesterday, he has left an indelible mark on our hearts and will be sorely missed. We wish him all the success in whatever he chooses next. I have no doubt he will find that success.
Also leaving us next Monday is Jake, our culinary student who has been working in the kitchen this summer. He is headed back to school for hihs second year. As his final project with us, he has created and executed the specials for the week! Without further ado, Jake's specials that begin tomorrow:
1. Creamy Sausage and Tortellini soup. A mix of hot and sweet sausage in a velvety broth with tri color cheese tortellini.
2. Chocolate chip and raspberry swirl muffin.
3. Peanut butter and chocolate chip pancakes. Our sweet cream, buttermilk pancakes infused with peanut butter powder (did not know that was a thing until he ran it by me) and Hershey's chocolate chips. Topped with house made peanut butter whipped cream and a mini Reese's peanut butter cup.
4. Pork and beef gyro wrap. We made a meatloaf with pork and ground beef and we'll slice it real thin and flash it on the grill. It will then go on our whole wheat wrap with house made tzatziki, tomato, onion, feta and fries.
