Unity Java, located on Ridge Avenue, is a community-focused coffee shop and tea room that serves inspired coffee. They offer free rides to the polls and host events featuring local candidates. With hours ranging from 6am-6:30pm Sun-Thur and 6am-8pm Fri/Sat, stop by for a midweek pick-me-up or to practice your latte art skills.

We’re back! ☕️

After a very unexpected couple days, we’ve been given the all-clear and Unity Java Ridge is officially reopened.

First and foremost, we’re grateful for the firefighters, first responders, building staff, and everyone working to help residents and businesses recover after last week’s fire.

A quick heads up: we’re still operating with a limited menu while we wait for our replacement espresso machine to arrive (which should be early this week).

For now:

✅ Food, pastries, and everything else

Well… this isn’t the update we expected to be posting.

As many of you may have heard, there was a fire at the Ridge Apartments last night.

Our thoughts are with everyone affected, especially the residents who were displaced or are now dealing with the aftermath.

While Unity Java was not directly damaged, we will need to remain closed while the building undergoes remediation and safety inspections.

At this point, we don’t know whether we’re talking hours or days. We’ll share updates as soon as we have them and will reopen as soon as we’re cleared to do so.

In the meantime, our Umbria Street location is open and ready to serve you.

Thank you for your patience, and please keep our neighbors in your thoughts as the community begins to recover.

To reach the coffee shop and tea room on Ridge Avenue in Philadelphia, there are different options depending on whether you want to use public transportation or drive.

If you're using public transit, the closest stop is the Ridge Ave & Manayunk Ave bus stop. You can take bus routes 9 or 27 to get there.

If driving, from Center City Philadelphia:

- Take I-76 West towards Valley Forge
- Take Exit 338 for Belmont Ave/West River Dr.
- Keep right at the fork, follow signs for Green Lane/River Road
- Continue on Green Lane for about 2 miles
- Turn left onto Ridge Avenue

Parking is available on the street or in nearby lots. Be sure to check local signage for parking restrictions and fees.
