Allow us to reintroduce ourselves!

We’re .evan.snyder and , co-owners of Emmett, our home-away-from-home on a cozy corner in the Olde Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia.

Emmett is a deeply personal project for us, a canvas on which we tell the stories of our families, our upbringing, and our vision for what an independent Philly restaurant can be. Chef Evan’s Turkish heritage, mixed with a childhood spent sitting at Jewish deli counters, intertwines with Julian’s Southern French identity and North African influences to bring you the culinary journey on which every Emmett guest embarks.

So whether you’re grabbing a bite at the bar, or tackling the Tasting Menu in our dining room, feel free to stop us and say hi! We’re here every night, making sure that everyone that walks through our doors feels seen, heard, and satisfied.

Lawrence has spent the last two weeks with us as part of the Philabundance Community Kitchen Externship Program, a workforce development initiative helping underserved members of our community grasp a second chance at life through placements in the culinary industry. These students approach each day with hunger, curiosity, and commitment to learning their craft and bettering themselves with the help of Philabundance and their restaurant partners, and we’ve been thrilled to support them and help show students like Lawrence what it takes to succeed and thrive both in the industry and in life.

ONE YEAR OF EMMETT!💚

We’re so thankful to have achieved this incredible milestone, having ridden the highs and lows that every single first year restaurant endures. We’ve so many people to thank for the support this year—our families and loved ones, our industry friends and peers, our wonderful local and national members of the press who’ve helped us put asses in seats, but most importantly to all of you, our beloved guests, who make it all worth it every single night with your kindness and hunger for yet another rye tartlet and dry aged duck breast.

We’re not going anywhere! We deeply feel the love, recognize the mandate to continue improving, and remain more committed than ever to make sure everyone has the experience of a lifetime within our doors.
