The idea for this collection began with a conversation.

In preparation for America 250 celebrations, Doug Miller, site director at Pennsbury Manor, approached us about creating a beer inspired by Pennsylvania's colonial past.

That collaboration led us to the Penn family recipe book and a historic recipe attributed to Gulielma Penn, wife of Pennsylvania founder William Penn. The result was Gulielma Penn's Special Apple Ale, a limited-release collaboration beer (on tap now!)

As we researched the people, ingredients, and beverages that shaped life in colonial Pennsylvania, we discovered that one beer wasn't enough to tell the story.

What began as a single collaboration ultimately grew into a collection of four beverages:

๐Ÿบ Gulielma Penn's Special Apple Ale (10% ABV) โ€“ limited quantity on tap and to-go 32 oz. crowler only)

๐Ÿบ Penn's Apple Ale (4.5% ABV) โ€“ available on tap and to-go (6 pack of 12 oz. cans)

๐Ÿบ Alice's Swankey Ale (4% ABV) โ€“ available on tap and to-go (6 pack of 12 oz. cans)

๐ŸŽ 1681 Hard Cider (4.5% ABV) โ€“ available on tap and to-go (6 pack of 12 oz. cans)

Before Pennsylvania had breweries, it had orchards.

Our first-ever hard cider pays tribute to Pennsylvania's colonial roots and the year William Penn was granted a royal charter by King Charles II, establishing Pennsylvania as a colony rooted in Pennโ€™s vision of tolerance and liberty.

Made with pressed heirloom apples grown at Manoff Market Gardens & M2 Cidery LLC in New Hope, 1681 Hard Cider is bright and refreshing, with fresh apple sweetness balanced by lively carbonation and a clean, tart, dry finish.

A refreshing tribute to the beginnings of Pennsylvania and the spirit of America 250.

Available on tap and to-go on Wednesday 6/10.

Tickets on sale for Independence Day celebration at Styer Orchard Inc.! The festivities take place on July 3 this year. Join us for a fantastic kick off to the Independence Day weekend! ๐ŸŽ‡

๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ https://styerorchard.ticketspice.com/styers-250-celebration

Good morning! Tickets are now on sale for our 250th Independence Day celebration. Food, beer, DJ, live music, hayrides, games and prizes for the kids all capped off with a fantastic fireworks display. Friday July 3rd at 4pm. Rain date is July 4th. Link is below after a lot more info.

For starters why July 3rd? Couple reasons. Staffing was a huge part of this decision. A lot easier to get people to work the day before. Everyone has big plans since this is a big year. We will also be open the whole weekend and itโ€™s difficult to do both. This also gives us a better chance at a better rain date instead of Sunday.

Pricing. We raised the price a bit this year. In the past this was more of a promotion than a profitable event. Ticket sales and sponsorships almost covered the fireworks cost. Food sales made up the difference but didnโ€™t cover the rest of our costs. In a normal year thatโ€™s ok with me. If youโ€™ve been following along weโ€™ve lost the majority of our crops this year to a hard freeze in April. We would like to use this event as a chance to make up for some of the losses.

For anyone whoโ€™s come before weโ€™re running it back basically how it was. Weโ€™re just making some small improvements and adjustments to make it a bit better. For anyone who hasnโ€™t come before this is just a good old fashioned party in a beautiful setting. Tickets are limited so itโ€™s not overly crowded. Men of Harmony will be back this year to sing for us! My good friend Corey will be the DJ again. Aristaeus will be there to sell beer.

One more change this year. We will not be allowing free parking at the store lot for people to watch the fireworks. Yea this sounds bad however it causes too much of a traffic jam for the folks that paid and parked at the farm. It was the number one complaint we had last year and itโ€™s not fair to them.

Any other questions feel free to ask.

A recipe inspired by the Penn family and brewed in collaboration with Pennsbury Manor.

To celebrate America 250, we drew inspiration from a historic recipe attributed to Gulielma Penn, wife of Pennsylvania founder William Penn, in their family recipe book.

The result was Pennโ€™s Special Apple Ale, a limited release collaboration beer (10% ABV) crafted with heirloom apples from Manoff Market Gardens & M2 Cidery LLC in New Hope.

That collaboration also inspired Penn's Apple Ale, a lighter, more approachable interpretation that showcases the same bright apple character balanced by a clean malt backbone and crisp, refreshing finish.

Together, they offer two modern interpretations of a beer that connects us to Pennsylvania's earliest days.

A taste of Pennsylvania history, reimagined.

Available on tap and to-go on Wednesday 6/10.
