Next up in our line of 'Experimental' Ice Cream Flights is...Baked Goods! Dropping this Saturday, 6/6, the latest flight features 4 baked goods inspired flavors:
๐ Banana Bread: Our signature Caramelized Banana ice cream base with moist house-made banana bread pieces mixed in.
๐ Lemon Bar: Lemon ice cream base with lemon curd swirls and shortbread pieces.
๐ซ Blueberry Cobbler: Vanilla Ice cream with a touch of cinnamon, a roasted
blueberry swirl and pie crumb topping mixed into the base.

Caprese Ice Cream Pint drops Saturday 5/23 ! ๐ฅก๐

When asked about the inspiration for the Caprese Ice Cream, Chef Franny said,โIn my childhood one of my favorite dishes in the summertime was a Caprese salad using fresh tomatoes and basil from my parents' garden. When my staff and I were brainstorming flavors for this project we had this idea to recreate this classic dish in Pint form. There were many different ways we could have gone about it but we settled on making our own mozzarella from scratch to make the ice cream base ๐ฅ๐ง creating a sweetened basil sauce (similar to how we make our mint sauce for our mint chip ice cream) ๐ฟ and roasting tomatoes in sugar until they are caramelized." ๐

It's ! When bananas arenโt used up to make banana splits, we recycle them into our caramelized banana ice cream.
Over ripe bananas are cooked down with brown butter, brown sugar, and rum, before being churned into our Caramelized Banana Ice Cream ๐ฅ๐๐จ It has been one of our top 5 flavors since we started making it in 2015!
Did you know every banana in the US is genetically identical?
Around the world, there are hundreds of banana varieties grown by small-scale farmers. But in the United States, we grow and sell the Cavendish banana. Panama disease wiped out the Gros Michel in the 1950s and '60s, and was replaced with the Cavendish. The fact that it's significantly less flavorful than other varieties wasn't considered a problem. Bananas reproduce asexually, so every banana is a clone. This predictable and controlled farming is more akin to a factory than a garden, and contributes the bananaโs low price - but it also damages the environment with excess fertilizer, and fossil fuel emissions from transportation, and sets the Cavendish banana up for disease like the Gros Michel ๐ฆ ๐

Elderberry Goat Cheese Ice Cream is the next release in our line of limited-batch experimental ice creams! ๐๐ง This flavor consists of a goat cheese-base swirled with Elderberry Jam, sourced from Reading Terminal Market. Elderberries have a taste similar to other dark berries like blackberries and black currants, and make for a delicious jam! They are also rich in nutrients and thought to have immune-boosting properties, so are also found in things like lozenges and supplements.

In case you missed it, Teaberry is back for the season! ๐๐จ Teaberry, or American Wintergreen, is a native North American shrub that produces small, red, edible berries. Unlike most fruity berries, teaberries actually have a unique, mild sweet & minty flavor, lending themselves well to flavoring things like toothpaste, candy, chewing gum, and yes, even Ice Cream!
