Did you know that egg bearing female lobsters are protected by the Maine lobster fishery? Every one that’s found in a trap gets a v-notch added to her tail so the next fishermen who catches her knows she is a mom and has to throw her back to protect the broad stock. It’s one of the many sustainability practices that Maine lobstermen do to ensure the future of the fishery.

This year, Poppy is participating in the Maine Lobstermen's Association Billion Egg Challenge! The goal is to reach 1 billion little baby lobster protected by reporting all your v-notches. Poppy’s got nearly 10 momma lobsters so far which is thousands of baby lobsters protected!

A little about Lift All Boats🦞
Luke’s helped found Lift All Boats (which is now a 501c3 nonprofit) in 2022 with just 4 students. The program has since grown to support more than 30 students! Providing access and education to the working waterfront is a critical part of the future of Maine’s lobster fishery. Learn more at liftallboatsmaine.org.

Three generations, one haul, and $127 🥹 Poppy sold her first catch to her grandfather, Jeff (aka Jefe), who has been in the lobster industry for decades. You can still find him grading lobsters and talking shop on Portland Pier to this day. Also apparently Poppy wants to be lobsterman AND hotelier 🤷‍♀️

It’s not just an aesthetic to us. It’s where all of our passion and knowledge for lobster and seafood comes from. It’s where we grew up, where we live, and it’s what we love.

You may know Luke’s because of our restaurant outside of Pike Place Market in Seattle or because you find us Whole Foods Market but our roots and family (and headquarters!) are here in Maine. And we work everyday to try to bring a little slice of all of this to you all 🦞

What people say

Seafood restaurants are known for their fresh and flavorful dishes that transport you to the coast with every bite. And Luke's Lobster on S 17th Street in Philadelphia is no exception. This seafood restaurant has gained a reputation for serving some of the best lobster rolls in town, and it's easy to see why.

At Luke's Lobster, you can expect nothing but the freshest seafood sourced directly from sustainable fisheries. Their lobster rolls are made with succulent chunks of Maine lobster meat, served on a buttery toasted bun with a sprinkle of lemon butter and secret seasoning. It's no wonder why this dish has become their signature item.

But that's not all they have to offer. Their menu also includes other seafood favorites like crab rolls, shrimp rolls, and clam chowder. And if you're feeling adventurous, try their lobster grilled cheese or lobster mac and cheese.

What sets Luke's Lobster apart is their commitment to sustainability. They work closely with fishermen who use responsible fishing practices to ensure that they're not only serving delicious food but also protecting our oceans for future generations.

So if you're looking for a seafood restaurant that serves up fresh and sustainable dishes, look no further than Luke's Lobster on S 17th Street in Philadelphia.
