Colombia San Vicente

San Vicente comes to us from smallholders in Huila, Colombia. These farmers belong to OCCICAFE Cooperative in San Vicente municipality, which is 10km from La Plata. This cooperative made a shift in 2015 to improve their practices to boost specialty quality. Growers here cultivate Castillo an Caturra varietals at 1500 – 1950 meters above sea level.

Our supplier for this coffee, Cofinet, categorizes coffees like this into 3 tiers, and this lot is a top tier “Regional Plus”. It earned this designation from cupping above 85 points and the green having a pristine physical quality. Cofinet has a strong lineage of growing coffee in Colombia, 80 years! They have been exporting Colombia coffee since 2015. They are boots on the ground, integrally involved in all aspects of coffee production, trade and logistics out of Colombia.

Ecuador Loja Natty

We taste: Blackberry, Cherry, Chocolate

Region: Quilanga & Cariamanga in Loja
Producers: Inés Jiménez, Luis Jima Pardo, and Fernando Auquilla Vega
Elevation: 1,700 - 1,800 masl
Variety: Mixed
Process: Natural

The Loja Natty is a lovely, mouthwatering, natural processed Ecuador coffee grown by three motivated producers in Loja. This is a coffee for the person who wants a fruity, silky, sweet coffee. We get notes of blackberry, cherry, and chocolate.

The farmers behind this lot are Inés Jiménez, Luis Jima Pardo, and Fernando Auquilla Vega. Their farms sit between 1,700 and 1,800 masl across the Loja region, in Quilanga and Cariamanga. On their farms they grow Typica, San Salvador, Catimor, and Catucaí varieties. The coffee cherries are picked only when they are fully ripe, fermented for 48 hours, and sun-dried in solar dryers for 25 to 30 days.

Inés Jiménez is a 75-year-old widow who has dedicated over 45 years to coffee cultivation. Previously focused on washed coffees, Inés transitioned to natural processing in 2025 due to limited labor and the ideal dry conditions of her region. She lives and works alone, tending her farm with dedication and care.

Luis Jima Pardo, 45, and Fernando Auquilla Vega, 65, come from Cariamanga, a zone equally suited for high-quality naturals. Both traditionally produced “bola” coffee lots sold to local buyers (these are low-grade naturals with poor processing destined only for the local market). In 2024, they decided to shift toward quality, selecting only ripe cherries and refining their post-harvest methods to include careful drying practices.

Kenya Karatu AB

We taste: Red Grape, Grapefruit, Currant

Station: Karatu Coffee Factory
Producer: Various Smallholder Farmers and the Gitwe Farmer Cooperative Society Ltd
Region: Kiambu
Altitude: 1850 - 1883 masl
Variety: SL28
Process: Double Washed with a 72 hour fermentation
Drying: Raised Beds

Kenya Karatu AB is a fresh crop arrival that has a cup profile perfect for sunnier warmer weather. It’s bright, juicy, and has loads of purple and pink fruit flavors. The acidity is playful and fresh, like a well balanced fruit punch. This is our first African coffee from the 2025/2026 harvest, enjoy it before the Ethiopia lots roll in!

Karatu Coffee Factory is located in Central Province of Kiambu. It was established in 1965 and rests on 11 acres of land, serving four villages. In addition to coffee growing, common crops grown are banana and maize. Grevillea or macadamia trees are also planted to provide shade to the growing coffee trees.

After the coffee cherry is harvested, it is brought to the factory and then weighed. Smallholder farmers collect their earnings at that time. Coffee cherry is then sent through a disk de-pulper removing most of the fruit, and is fermented for 24-hours and then washed once more, bringing the entire process to 72-hours. The time in which parchment coffee dries depends heavily on the climate, ambient temperature, and volume being processed – which could take up to 15 days, and as little as one week.
