We are up to our ears in graduation cakes this week! When we get them all done we are going to feel just as proud as this capybara!

I was never a scout, but I think my husband was once the youngest type of Boy Scout. However, I know my grandfather was an Eagle Scout because I have his amazing sash at my house! I know it’s so much hard work to get to this level. It’s an honor to be part of their celebration for this special achievement.

It’s wedding season! I really love this vibrant, colorful take on a floral scroll. Plus, if you know me, you know I’m a fan of a whimsical cake topper! These delightful geese are quite the pair.

Welp, it may be cold and rainy, but at least you can still eat a summery pie. Come by today, get a little treat, and then go home and get cozy!
What’s your updated long weekend plan? Maybe we will go see a movie and finish a puzzle and do some legos.

Memorial Day weekend is quickly approaching! Even though the weather may not cooperate, you should at least get to enjoy a slice of pie! We will be making some extra for walk-in customers, but the best way to guarantee your favorite flavor is here for you is to call us today or tomorrow and pre-order one. You can reach us at 267-900-5453 from 10-5. We will be making mixed berry crumble, strawberry rhubarb, and key lime with meringue!

Sorry for the fridge shot but I forgot to get a good picture of this once it was decked out with berries because I was so busy trying to construct a box to accommodate a 2 1/2 foot long cake! This is the longest cake I’ve ever made and we had to go get a special 3 foot long cake drum to build it on. It’s amazing how much trickier everything about decorating becomes when you cake fit the cake on your turntable and it barely fits on your work station. But this is what the people want, lol!

You guys know I love two things: making a family’s cakes year after year and Disney world. So I LOVE that I got to make the 3rd Disney vehicle cake for this sweet family! This little boy just LOVES Disney transportation!
The first year was the Skyliner (my FAVORITE mode of Disney transportation). The second year we did the Monorail (could there be a more iconic form or Disney vehicle??). This year we got to make the backbone of the entire transportation system, the classic Disney bus!
I’ve been on these things empty, I’ve been on them packed to the gills. I’ve stood, I’ve sat, and I’ve even had to drive my grandpa’s electric scooter on and off (because he was nervous to do so). Nothing hits quite like the AC on those buses after a hot summer park day. Hopefully we get to continue the trend next year and I’ll get to make a Ferry or maybe even a Minnie Van. Maybe we will move into ride vehicles!

Ok guys, here’s the truth. The white cake has never been my favorite. So recently, we worked hard and did a lot of experimenting to improve the flavor and the texture, aiming for a “birthday cake” kind of taste. In the end, it just took a couple small tweaks, but they had a big impact! Now, it’s one of my favorites! I do hope you’ll come by and try some soon. We always have it as cupcakes, usually the full size cakes, and often as scrapple cups.

It’s always so interesting to see the way our display cakes fade in the window! We get lots of questions about these cakes, the main one is “Are those REAL?!” And the answer is: kinda. There’s never actual cake inside, it’s usually a dummy or cardboard, but often the fondant icing and all the decorations are real! However, when we make “buttercream cakes” or decorations in “buttercream” like this one, we use spackle as our icing, which allows us to use the same techniques and textures as buttercream.
I’m always amazed at how quickly the colors can fade from the sun. Some of our colors are more stable and hang in there, while others, like purple, seem to fade as soon as we finish piping!
Our display cakes are when we really get a chance to conceptualize our own theme and play around. The day we put in the new window design is always like a breath of fresh air!

Make it nice for mom! You have about a week left to order her a personal cake that she doesn’t have to share with any one. Want something for the whole group while they celebrate mom? We’ve got some lovely cupcake sets available, as well! Check out our menus online including our special Mother’s Day menu which includes pies!

What was your favorite nicktoon? Mine was actually Doug, but I also enjoyed Rugrats. TBH, Ren and Stimpy kinda freaked me out!

Fun new update! We’re introducing a new line of “specialty cakes” which are a bit more jazzed up than our every day cakes, but only need 1 week’s notice instead of the 2 weeks’ we request for custom cakes.
We plan to roll out more options later, but to start we have our first wave up and ready to order online!
You can now select your design, size, and mix and match the flavors to build the cake out how you want!
Of course we will still have our popular ready to take cakes each day and you can still order a fully custom cake from us with about 2 weeks notice.

Made this cute little turtle cake this weekend, but to be honest, I’m not sure who he is or what he’s from. Tried to look it up, and came across this extremely specific Wikipedia article, but no answer. So who is he??

This weekend should be a nice one to see the flowering trees. I absolutely cannot wait until everything really kicks into high gear flower-wise.

A little throwback Thursday action for you. I loved making this cool wedding cake for one of my classmates from . I haven’t been back to visit for almost 2 decades, but I have lots of fond memories from my time there. In fact, just the other day another alum was in the shop and we were all comparing chef instructors!
