Geno's Steaks Geno's Steaks, located at the "X" shaped intersection of 9th & Passyunk in South Philadelphia, was started by Joe Vento in 1966. Originally named after a neighborhood boy who painted his name on a broken door, Geno's has become known for offering the best cheesesteaks with simple and exact ingredients of thinly sliced rib-eye steak, melted cheese, oven-fresh baked bread and delicately grilled onions. Through her beautiful arrangements at Ten Pennies and, even more importantly, through the love and friendship she shared with those who knew her personally, Ann brought joy to so many throughout the Philadelphia community. Founded by Joe Vento, who learned the trade from his father, Geno's has become a must-visit spot for locals and tourists alike.
